Montreuil and its region is divided into La Canche,  Course and Authie valleys. The harmonious and varied landscapes on offer in these valleys make any of them a great location for open air activities. There are numerous picturesque villages hiding away throughout the valleys just waiting to be found. The Course valley is famous for trout fishing, watercress growing, the river “Course” flows across meadows and lovely villages full of flowers. It is also well-known for its heritage: castles, manors, churches, watermills, houses and farms. Every Friday in July and August, local farmers hold their evening market where you will find genuine specialities. Canoeing on the river Canche is a must for those who enjoy outdoor activities, running through a preservation area and varied landscapes.

There are all manner of outdoor activities from pony trekking to cycling all of which will allow you to enjoy all that this region has to offer. If the outdoors is not for you there are two museums in Montreuil. The Roger Rodière Museum in the 18th century hospital chapel has a collection of archaeological pieces which chronicle the recent history of the town, as well as an impressive collection of funeral sculptures. The Hotel Acary has the ‘Musée de l’espoir de Franck et Mary Wooster’ in a property which Madame Wooster left to the commune on her death. There is a collection of furniture dating from the 18th –20th centuries and the architecture of the building is noteworthy too. From the ramparts you gain wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and just below them is the sleepy little riverside village of La Madelaine-Sous-Montreuil which also boasts a superb restaurant.
